Our Prayer For 2015

Our Prayer For 2015

For most of us, like all other previous years, 2014 came and went. We get into 2015 reflecting on the previous year’s ups & downs, victories & trials, laughs & tears and habits we would like to break and/or create. We are no different. We as JHB have had a lot of great and exciting memories, laughs, new relationships and partnerships established, new lands we traveled to and new art which was created; as well as experiencing transition, growing pains, trials, tears and some very real fears as well as some irrational fears. All of this is part of what following Jesus looks like and feels like, for every-person.

As 2015 gives us a blank canvas, we as Jordan Howerton Band are praying specific things over us individually, over the Church world-wide, over the local bodies’ of brothers and sisters we will encounter this year, and also over those we may not. We also invite you to join in; in praying with us and for us.

Our prayer for 2015 is that Jesus would be glorified; that He would be Loved with all of our heart, soul, mind & strength. We pray that we would have more opportunities to share the Love of God through action, word, deed and song. We want to see the Church reach a greater level of unity this year. We want to see the ends of the Earth loving and praising Jesus. We want to see people healed, set free and made-whole in Jesus’ name. We want to decrease and we want Jesus to increase. All of this is absolutely attainable and possible through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives inside of every-believer who professes the name of Jesus, and is made manifest when we act and do what Jesus is telling us and moving us to. We want to help the local church be all that it was created to be. We also want to come alongside with and partner with those who have the same calling and leading. None of this is possible without the Body of Christ and us individually acting and doing. For those of you reading this, we pray somehow that our paths would cross this year, and that we can celebrate the work of Jesus and the Love of God together.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jordan Howerton Band

This Fall So Far…We Want To Hear From You!

This Fall So Far…We Want To Hear From You!

Hey friends! Currently driving down the road to Greentown, IN and thought, “Hey…Let’s update our friends on our journeys!” We consider it an honor to be a partner in leading the Church in worship for a living. If we’ve worshipped with you this Fall at any point then our sincerest “thanks” goes out to you for showing up ready to sing like crazy with us. If we’ve yet to be with you this Fall then we look forward to being with you soon!

It’s been so cool to see God move through His Church in our travels this Fall. From youth events to one night tour stops to leading entire congregations at weekend services, God continues to reveal more of Himself to us through His bride. We continually pray that the stories and testimonies we’re a part of hearing would shape and mold our craft as songwriters to keep producing songs the Church can cling to. That’s our heart. So…thanks for supporting us and being real with us to fuel our ministry both creatively as well as financially! God uses you to speak to us!

If you haven’t yet…Shoot us messages on Facebook or Twitter to let us know if/how our songs have played a part in what God’s doing in your life! We’d love to celebrate with you!

Excited about the roads ahead and thankful for the journey behind! See you down the road.

Song List: Summer Tour 2014

Song List: Summer Tour 2014

Hey Friends! A lot of you have been asking about our song list for our current Summer Tour. Our goal as a ministry is to aid you with all the resources at our finger tips so that you can take these songs to you church.

Below is a list of songs we did this Summer along with their iTunes links. Also…Is a list of the songs in order of tempo. We look at our songs in a unique perspective when picking sets for a tour. We look at our songs like we grill our steaks…Rare is a song with a fast tempo (a quicker cook time). Medium is a song with a (surprise surprise!) medium tempo. Well is a song that is on the grill a while longer, therefore it is a slower. Medium rare and medium well should be somewhat self-explanatory:)

If we’ve been with you this summer then it’s been an honor worshipping with you. If we haven’t yet, but will, then we can’t wait! If we won’t…let’s fix that in the future! Hope these songs are aids to you and your churches in corporately worshipping our incredible God.

Summer Tour Update - 3 Weeks Down

Summer Tour Update - 3 Weeks Down

We’ve been having a blast on our Summer Tour so far. We’ve loved being a part of what God is doing in His Kingdom through the ministry of Christ In Youth. We love this organization so much and are honored to be a part of what God’s doing through it. We’ve spent some time in Knoxville, TN and Cedarville, OH. We had a blast worshipping with a bunch of students focused on knowing Jesus and making Him known.

We’ve been learning so much this Tour. We feel a deep conviction to continue to seek ways to improve. None of us have ever arrived to a place where there’s nothing left to learn. We’re always looking, listening for ways to be better followers of Jesus, spouses, friends, and musicians.

One thing I’ve been learning is the power of the story of people changed by Jesus’ power. The theme for Christ In Youth’s MOVE conference is, “This Changes Everything.” The “This” in that title is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. To think and to know that the same power that conquered the grave lives in us (through the power of the Holy Spirit) is a serious perspective shifter. If you’ve experienced the life-transforming power of Jesus’ love in your life then you know; when you walk away from an encounter with the one true living God it changes things.

There is a part in a morning session where the conference asked me to share why I believe in resurrection of Jesus. In order to tell someone why I believe in the resurrection I have to tell them how the resurrection power of Jesus, through His Holy Spirit, is transforming me. The same is true for you. Yea, you. If you’re reading this blog post and you’ve experienced the resurrection power of Jesus by His Holy Spirit transforming you, then you’ve got a story to share. A story that will help someone either come closer to Jesus OR come to know Him for the first time.

There is power in telling your story. So share it!

If we’ve worshipped with you on this Tour then thanks for singing so well with us. If we’re yet to be with you, then we can’t wait! If we’re not with you…bummer.

We’d love to know how Jesus is transforming you! Shoot us a tweet or Facebook message so we can be praying with and for you!

See you down the road.

Our YM Prayer This Summer

Our YM Prayer This Summer

We’re currently in our first week of our Summer Tour. As we get into the groove of a new tour (and in that - time away from home), we know that a lot of you are going to be joining us on the road this Summer. Your time away from home this Summer will establish a launching point for the follow through at home. You get to be a part of both experiences! Here’s how we’re praying for you.

Your families are going to sacrifice time with you to enable you to be a part of the Kingdom work God has called you to. The enemy is working at you and them even now to feel bitter about the fact that you’re spending more time with the student that eats funyuns - like all the time - more than your own son or daughter.

We’re praying for the moments you FaceTime, call, text and communicate with your family from those trips. Be fully there in the conversation. Ask them to pray with you and for you. Even your kids, seriously.

You’re going to take a student on a trip with you that is a MESS. A lot of pain and hurt has plagued their past - some warranted by their own mistakes, but some brought on by their parent issues. They’re looking for any type of affirmation. And that’s why they’re finding themselves trying to please the world. And in that, they’re finding themselves disappointed and empty time and time again.

We’re praying for the moment you look across the room and see him/her singing their guts out to their Father.

The words spoken to your students this summer may be intentional for them, but they’re not exclusively for them.

We’re praying for the moment when you hear the same words you’re praying for your students to hear.

We’re praying that God does immeasurably more in you and through you than you could ever do on your own. We’re praying that you abide in Jesus. We’re praying for you. We can’t wait to worship with you!

SYMC

SYMC

We had a blast this weekend with our new and old friends from Simply Youth Ministry Conference. It’s always an incredible sight to see 2,000 youth ministers joining together worshipping in one room. It’s heavenly to see different denominations, completely different cultures, and different years of experience all joined together with no agenda other than to make Jesus famous. We’re honored to get to play a part in what God was and is doing in this group of Youth Workers.

We featured a new song from our new record. The song was titled “You Are Holy” and the album will be called “Your Love Is Like.” The record comes out on May 27th. We’re blown away by the response from so many of you about the song. Such an encouragement! Now some encouragement for you…

Hebrews 10:19-25 says, ”19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

As workers in the Kingdom of God we can’t ever forget the impending reality that Jesus is coming again. And as workers in the Kingdom of God we get to be a part of ushering in His return. In light of that truth…We pray that you continue to “draw near to God,” “hold unswervingly to the hope you profess,” and “spur one another on to love and good deeds.” God is going to do incredible things through you and in your ministries. Through your own stories of transformation, God will transform the lives of your students.

Be challenged. Be encouraged. Be real. Be blessed.

Some people we got to work with (Check them out!):

We were encouraged to share ministry with Kings Kaleidoscope (http://marshill.com/music/artists/kings-kaleidoscope) and challenged creatively to share the stage with The Liturgists (http://www.theliturgists.com). We were incredibly challenged by the message from Derwin Gray and his testimony of the work of Jesus at Tranformation Church. Check his podcast here (http://www.transformationchurch.tc).

Studio Time

Studio Time

When we set out to Savannah, GA in the Summer of 2008 for our first event as a band (Christ In Youth’s MOVE Conference) - we had no idea where it would lead. At that time we were just a few guys who loved to play music for Jesus’ glory. With the help of our home church, Christ’s Church of Oronogo, and good friend, Tony Anderson, we rushed out our first project. At that time it was just under the name Jordan Howerton because we hadn’t even formulated the idea that this could possibly be a full-time thing. If you got that album - “Home” - that Summer or shortly thereafter, then you’re in the minority…because that album will not surface again:) Ever. Seriously.

After that Summer we were asked to do more events and things started to progress. The events doubled and tripled over the ensuing years. As the events progressed so did the changes to the band. We had additions and Subtractions of dear brothers. God continued to knit our hearts together for a journey we never could have dreamed on our own, let alone grasped.

  • In 2010 we released our first full length album as The Jordan Howerton Band. The album was Live Loud.
  • In 2011 we released an EP for the purpose of redoing Hymns. That album was The Dirt Road EP.
  • In 2012 we released our second full length album: We Are Free.
  • In 2013 we released our first Christmas EP.

Why are we telling you all of this?

We believe that the Church is becoming more and more creative, returning to it’s original roots of being a place of Creativity to magnify a creative God. We are delighted and honored to play a role in that creativity for the Church. Our heart has always been and will continue to be for the Church. Our goal as a ministry was and is rooted in Creating worship resources, Leading with those resources, and Equipping others to do the same.

We’re going into the studio this week to turn another page on a journey that started over 6 years ago. And as we go we want to both say Thank You and ask something of you.

Thank You for your support through the years. We’ve worshipped with some of you in person and others of you only through your ear-buds, but we’re thankful and humbled for the opportunity whatever the level.

Thank You for your financial support. We’ve been able to have just enough to record our projects debt free. We thank you and our families thank you.

Thank You for your spiritual support. You’ve tweeted, face-booked, instagrammed, emailed, and texted numerous times to say that you’re praying for us. You’ve shared the ways that God has used the songs He’s laid on OUR hearts to speak to YOURS. You’ve encouraged us. You’ve allowed God to speak through you to us. And for that, we’re so thankful.

Now…We need your help.

Like we said above, this week we turn the page on our journey to start the work of our new full length record. The title of the record is going to be “Your Love Is Like…” We’re so stinking excited for this project! Some of these songs have been in the works for 3 years or more. As we step into that studio we need your help.

Please pray for us.

Pray that God would reveal to us what he wants with this project. From the first note to the last, we want this album to be all about God’s glory. In order for that to be the case we have to be aware of His leading. So, please pray that His leading is so evident.

Pray for our families. We’ve never entered into a season as busy as this. We will be touring and recording an album at the same time and that is HUGE time commitment. Please pray that our families are spiritually and physically protected by Jesus as we continue to carry out His will for our lives.

Pray for favor. We want these songs to go as far away from Joplin, MO as they can. We want them to be all over the world and we believe that they can be. Please pray that the lyrics that God is writing on our hearts will challenge and encourage the Church.

We are so thankful for your support. If you’d like to donate to our ministry and our project you can do that by clicking on the paypal button below.

For all we’ve been a part of and all we’ve yet to be a part of…To God be the glory!
